Nursing Facilities

The Nursing Facility program provides institutional care to Medicaid recipients whose medical condition regularly requires the skills of licensed nurses. The nursing facility must provide for the total medical, social and psychological needs of each client, including room and board, social services, over-the-counter drugs, medical supplies and equipment, and personal needs items.

Who can get services?

  • You must have needs that prevent independent living.
  • You must need nursing or medical care regularly throughout a 24-hour period.
  • Your need for care must be documented by a physician.
  • You may need rehabilitative services such as occupational, physical or speech therapy.
  • If you receive Medicaid, your income and resources may not exceed specified limits.
